task-board-api

Want a quick dive into all the new Claude Code features? Start here: CHEATSHEET.md — a single-page reference with collapsible sections covering every feature, all commands, file maps, hook types, frontmatter fields, and keyboard shortcuts.

A task management REST API built with Hono and Bun.

This project is used as the demo codebase for the Dynamous Agentic Coding Course workshop.

Workshop Guides

  • CHEATSHEET.md — Start here. Full workshop overview for viewers.

Features

  • User management (CRUD)
  • Project management (CRUD)
  • Task management with status and priority tracking
  • Comments on tasks
  • Notifications
  • Bearer token authentication

Getting Started

bun install
API_TOKEN=my-secret bun run src/index.ts

The server starts on port 3000 (override with PORT=4000).

API

All /api/* routes require an Authorization: Bearer <token> header. The token must match the API_TOKEN environment variable (default: test-token).

GET /health # Health check (no auth)
GET /api/users # List users
POST /api/users # Create user
GET /api/users/:id # Get user
DELETE /api/users/:id # Delete user

GET /api/projects # List projects
POST /api/projects # Create project
GET /api/projects/:id # Get project
DELETE /api/projects/:id # Delete project

GET /api/tasks?projectId=... # List tasks (optional filter)
POST /api/tasks # Create task
GET /api/tasks/:id # Get task
PATCH /api/tasks/:id # Update task
DELETE /api/tasks/:id # Delete task

GET /api/comments?taskId=... # List comments for task
POST /api/comments # Create comment
DELETE /api/comments/:id # Delete comment

GET /api/notifications?userId=... # List notifications
PATCH /api/notifications/:id/read # Mark as read
DELETE /api/notifications/clear?userId=... # Clear all

Running Tests

bun test

Workshop Context

This project is designed to demonstrate five Claude Code features:

  1. Agent Teams — The test suite gives agents concrete code to audit
  2. Git Worktrees — src/api/ follows a consistent pattern for adding new endpoints
  3. /batch — Every service/api file uses console.log; migrate them all to src/utils/logger.ts
  4. Remote Control — src/auth.ts has deliberate gaps Claude can identify and fix
  5. Session Teleportation — Requires a GitHub remote (see pre-workshop setup below)

Pre-Workshop Setup for Session Teleportation

# Required ONLY if presenting Feature 5 (Session Teleportation)
gh repo create task-board-api --public --source=. --push

Structured Logger

src/utils/logger.ts exports a structured JSON logger. All other files currently use console.log instead — the /batch demo migrates them to use the structured logger.
